An interdisciplinary research consortium (agroecology, ecology, ecotoxicology, epidemiology, ergonomics, public health) and non-academic partners (associations, field actors, territorial leaders) implement complementary actions with the inhabitants, children and high school students, in order to make the concept 'One Health' operational.

These actions take the form:

  • interventions with farmers aiming to generate new knowledge on the links between food, agriculture, biodiversity and health

The objective of this position is to promote understanding of the interrelationships between human health and the environment, while strengthening the power to act individually and collectively.

The main mission of the post-PhD researcher is to explore how agricultural practices which respect life not only reinforce the health of territories, but also the pride and sense of work among farmers.

Responsibilities

  • collect qualitative data through observations and interviews with farmers

The IHES (CNRS UMR 7267) and EPICENE (INSERM) teams will conduct studies on the analysis of psychosocial and professional risks and benefits related to the transition of farmers towards low-pesticide use practices. This work is part of the Health of Territories project, led by the Resilience team, whose objective is to identify nature-based solutions to strengthen the resilience and health of territories (Bretagnolle et al., 2018; Berthet et al., 2022). The research is conducted on an agricultural territory which also constitutes a research infrastructure (Transform'Actions programme): the Atelier Zone Plaine & Val de Sèvre (south of Deux-Sèvres). They directly involve the inhabitants, farmers, elected officials, as well as health professionals and school staff of the territory, in a participatory research approach. The IHES team at EBI collaborates closely with the Centre for Study and Research on Cognition and Learning (CeRCA), Psychology Laboratory of the University of Poitiers.
