Offer Description

We are seeking a PhD student candidate for a project applying state-of-the-art high-dimensional single-cell analysis technologies and spatial proteogenomics to dissect interaction networks between immune cells and the tumor microenvironment. The post holder will develop experimental work flows for data acquisition and apply bioinformatics tools to create novel analytical pipelines for analysis of multidimensional data sets. The project will involve (but not be limited to) applying sophisticated mouse genetic models of cancer and conditional gene targeting, single-cell RNA-seq, spectral flow cytometry, multiplex imaging and spatial genomics data acquisition and analysis.

Skills/Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual who is methodical, rigorous, reactive and attentive with a strong work ethic and high integrity. You will already have experience with experimental mouse models in an immunology and/or oncology context. You will have some experience of current single cell omics technologies including single cell RNA-seq, high dimensional flow cytometry and ideally spatial transcriptomics and/or highly multiplexed imaging.

Specific Requirements

Specific responsibilities:

  • To work on the immunological and molecular profiling of tissues and cells from animal models of cancer.
  • To develop mechanistic insights derived from such profiling activities in collaboration with computational biologists.
  • To use a variety of technologies to investigate the functional immunological status of cancers and the influence of their microenvironments.
  • To implement analytical and bioinformatics tools to analyse and interpret multidimensional data.
  • To establish workflows for collection and analysis of samples from preclinical cancer models and develop experimental protocols.
  • To promote research initiatives and original contributions to the research programmes of the team and the Centre as a whole.

General responsibilities:

  • To contribute in experiment design, collection and analysis of data for the teams research projects.
  • To maintain careful permanent records of all experimental work.
  • To maintain appropriate databases, keeping accurate written and digital records and ensure that these records are stored securely and confidentially.
  • To attend and participate in the Centre's academic activities.
