A leading reinsurer in Paris seeks an L&H Underwriting Solutions Expert to enhance underwriting guidelines and integrate digital innovation. The role demands over 10 years of underwriting experience, focusing on medical guidelines, and excellent communication skills. Candidates should have a relevant degree and be proficient with key IT systems. This position offers an opportunity to influence future underwriting solutions powered by AI.
As a L&H Underwriting Solutions Expert, you will play a pivotal role at the intersection of technical underwriting and digital innovation within the (re)insurance industry. Your primary responsibility is to establish and maintain cutting-edge, evidence-based underwriting guidelines—most notably for the SOLEM Underwriting Manual. You will collaborate closely with local underwriting experts, actuaries, medical experts to ensure that guidelines are technically robust, as inclusive as can be, and aligned with local market practices and regulations.
In this role, you will actively monitor industry developments, such as new medical studies, treatments, and regulatory changes, to keep the underwriting philosophy current and relevant. You will also support the development and content validation of e-underwriting solutions, working with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet market needs.
A key part of your responsibilities involves clear communication and stakeholder management: you will cascade updates, document changes in relevant systems, and contribute to SCOR’s reputation as a technical leader by creating communication materials for significant updates.
Additionally, you will drive the roadmap for next-generation underwriting solutions, powered by AI, by providing expert insights, identifying pain points, and participating in user acceptance testing for new releases. This role requires strong technical underwriting experience, a collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills in English, and a willingness to engage with digital tools and innovation.

Bring support and expertise in establishing our E-Underwriting solutions’ content and rules (Velogica), helping to sign them off together with local market teams and other relevant stakeholders.
Ensure that any update brought to our Underwriting philosophy is efficiently cascaded and communicated to the right stakeholders (e.g. organizing regular sharing sessions)
Document the evolutions of the changes brought to our Underwriting Philosophy in the relevant tools (e.g. Teams, Azure Devops etc.) so as to build a reliable audit track
Contribute to SCOR’s reputation as a technical, knowledgeable reinsurer through building communication material on some of the most significant Underwriting Philosophy updates (that can then be shared on SCOR’s website or social media), together with Communications and Marketing teams.
Strong life underwriting experience ()
10 years, with a track record of expanding responsibility and technical expertise over time
Experience building medical underwriting guidelines together with CMOs and actuaries
Knowledge and experience in contributing to innovation in the L&H underwriting landscape
