HEAD STOREKEEPER (OPEN)

SALARY

The prevailing salary for this position is $20.72 – $28.52 per hour.

EXAMINATION INFORMATION

WRITTEN EXAMINATION: The exam may be computerized, or a traditional pencil and paper designed to test the objectives of the duties and minimum qualifications of the classification (100% of final grade).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under supervision, supervises activities in one or more storerooms or storage yards. Performs related duties as required.

  • Supervises the activities of stock handlers, truck drivers, watchmen, laborers, and other employees engaged in storeroom operations and maintenance and in the handling of stock.
  • Supervises the receiving, storing, disbursing, and delivering of supplies.
  • Supervises the keeping of stock records.
  • Supervises or inspects the maintenance of inventories.
  • Requisitions and traces material and supplies.
  • Directs the dispensing of material and supplies.
  • Compiles data for contract specifications.
  • Assigns trucks.
  • Checks time records.
  • Supervises the taking of inventories.
  • Assists in storeroom activities.
  • Makes reports and recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED required. Five years of full-time paid warehouse or storeroom experience with ordering, stocking, and dispensing procedures for equipment and materials and other inventory control activities such as physical inventory, cycle counts, etc., required. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Must possess basic computer skills, especially Microsoft Office Suites and must be able to attain proficiency on various inventory software packages. Must be knowledgeable in the various machines associated with the automated office (e.g.: Computer, fax, copier, postage meter, adding machine, etc.). Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required. Must be proficient in operating a powered lift truck (tow motor). Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds upon occasion with the use of equipment or the assistance of others.

NOTE: Minimum qualifications must be met as of the last day of the filing period unless otherwise stated.

VETERANS’ PREFERENCE

Veterans’ preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214 must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing an application for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans’ credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination; or ten (10) points are added to their raw score on the examination if applicant’s supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service connected disability. NOTE: Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.
