Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in RAMS engineering and/or aerospace system engineering.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German and French is a plus.

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) Engineer to help us in our mission by being responsible of the RAMS activities for our Future Projects that prepare the future growth of the Nyx vehicles family. These future projects focus on early phases of the development and cover a wide range of vehicles, including launch systems, lunar landers and LEO servicers.

You will be part of the Future Systems team, reporting to the Principal Engineer of the project and working closely with the other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as Future Projects RAMS Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

  • performing and maintaining the Fault Tree Analyses and FMECA (Failure Modes Effect and Criticality Analysis), in support of the design through the generation of Technical Recommendation and RAMS requirements.

  • performing Safety activities, such as hazard analyses on ground, during space operations, and during re-entry and recovery, including analyses to show compliance to the FSOA and the ESA Space Debris Mitigation requirements.

  • performing trade-offs and redundancy optimisation studies in coordination with each Sub-System responsible.

  • performing and maintaining the Reliability prediction analysis flowing allocations to the Sub-systems and Equipements.

  • driving the FDIR (Failure Detection, Isolation and Recovery) strategy definition coordinating between the hardware responsible and the flight software engineers.

  • performing the Availability analysis for the critical phases.

  • driving the Maintainability concept and processes for reusable vehicles.

What we would love to see from you

In the role of Future Projects RAMS Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

  • Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in Engineering, aerospace engineering, or another related field; specialisation in electronics is a plus.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in RAMS engineering and / or aerospace system engineering

  • Good knowledge in programming (expecially Python)

  • Fluent in English. German and French is an asset
