Job summary

ICEYE invites a Spacecraft Analysis Team Lead to Espoo, Finland. You will lead a multidisciplinary group to design, verify, and optimize SAR spacecraft systems, from ground to on-orbit operations, driving reliability and performance improvements.

You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support mission analysis and customer-facing program management. This role is office-based in Espoo with security screening requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a team of 3–8 engineers in R&D.
  • Hands-on experience with satellite systems, RF systems, or remote sensing from concept to operation.
  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft subsystems (power, thermal, avionics, propulsion).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and verify SAR spacecraft.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance reliability and performance for on-orbit operations.
  • Analyze, model, and optimize performance of integrated SAR satellite systems.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and inspire
  • Manage and mentor a team of multidisciplinary engineers and cross-functional experts to design, develop, and verify cutting-edge SAR spacecraft.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Drive technical excellence
  • Analyze, model, and optimize the performance of integrated SAR satellite systems, both on the ground and in space.

  • Support launch, early operations and commissioning activities, ensuring successful deployment and operation of the spacecraft.

  • Perform mission analysis and develop flying rules to support system design.

  • Lead initiatives to enhance reliability and performance for on-orbit operations.

  • Support customers and program management with mission analysis, system documentation and on-orbit validation and verification.

Qualification
Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience
  • Relevant experience in spacecraft systems engineering or related field.

  • Proven track record of leading a team of 3 to 8 R&D engineers directly reporting to you.

  • Hands-on experience with satellite systems, RF systems, or remote sensing technologies from concept to operation.

Skills
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft systems, and subsystems (e.g., power, thermal, avionics, propulsion).

  • Experience in systems engineering processes, requirements management, and verification methodologies.

  • Proficient in tools such as Python and STK.

  • Excellent project management, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Understanding SAR principles would be a plus
