Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra announces an audition for the position of Solo Viola. The appointment is permanent and will begin January 5, 2027, or as agreed. The application window runs August 17–September 27 at 23:59 (UTC+3).

An audition is scheduled for Monday, November 2 at Tampere Hall for invited candidates. Applicants should prepare the required repertoire listed in the notice, including works by Hoffmeister, Stamitz, Bartók, Hindemith, Walton, and connections to orchestral and chamber

Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra invites applications for the position of

SOLO VIOLA

Application period is from 17 August to 27 September at 23:59 (11:59 pm, UTC+3). The position is permanent, and work begins on 5 January 2027 or as agreed.

Audition on Mon 2 November at Tampere Hall, Main Auditorium for those invited to audition based on the applications. Invitations to the audition and a link to the required audition repertoire will be sent to the applicants by 2 October.

REQUIRED REPERTOIRE

Concertos
Franz Anton Hoffmeister: Viola Concerto D Major, 1st Mov. and Cadenza
or Carl Stamitz: Viola Concerto D Major, 1st Mov. and Cadenza
and
Béla Bartók: Viola Concerto, 1st Mov.
or Paul Hindemith: Viola Concerto “Der Schwanendreher”, 1st Mov.
or William Walton: Viola Concerto, 1st Mov.

The applicant will indicate their chosen concertos on the application form.

Orchestral and chamber music repertoire

Will be published later on the orchestra’s website.

The orchestra will provide a pianist to the audition
