Job summary

Safegrid – A G&W Electric Company is seeking an experienced systems engineer to strengthen our sensing and embedded system capabilities in Turku, Finland. You will own sensor-device architectures and drive system-level technical decisions within the Safegrid Intelligent Grid System.

Based in Turku, the role combines office-based engineering with hands-on lab work and occasional travel to other G&W Electric locations.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience in electronics, embedded systems, measurement and signal processing.
• Ability to understand complex systems across disciplinary boundaries and make sound system-level decisions.
• Strong analytical, experimental and root-cause problem-solving capability.
• Experience taking technical ownership of complex products or systems.
• Clear technical communication and the ability to challenge assumptions constructively.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering or applied-science field, with senior-level engineering experience.

Advanced Grid Sensing | Sensor Device Development

Safegrid's Intelligent Grid System consists of two main components: field-deployed IoT sensor devices and a cloud platform. This role focuses on the development and system architecture of the sensor devices.

We are looking for an experienced systems engineer to strengthen our technical capability across sensing, electronics, embedded systems and signal processing. This is a senior technical individual-contributor role with substantial technical ownership.

Working with the Principal Engineer, Sensor R&D teams, Product Management and other G&W Electric functions, you will develop and challenge system architectures and progressively take ownership of complete sensor-device systems and their technical performance.

Useful experience

Advanced sensing and measurement, analog electronics, antenna, RF, or EMC design, FPGA, DSP, industrial or scientific instrumentation, design-for-test, connected embedded products, electrical power systems, high-voltage technology or condition monitoring.

We do not expect candidates to already know all of these areas. Strong engineering fundamentals, technical curiosity and the enthusiasm to learn unfamiliar domains are more important than experience with particular tools, programming languages or technologies.

Location and working model

The role is based in Turku, Finland and combines office-based engineering with regular hands-on laboratory work. Some travel to G&W Electric locations, suppliers, laboratories, test facilities and customer sites may be required.
