Job description

Surface Drilling Division within Sandvik Mining is a world leading supplier of surface mining and construction equipment and related services. We are strengthening and developing our Software Testing team and are now looking for a proactive and future-oriented senior SW test engineer for a permanent position in Tampere, Finland. Our Software Testing team is responsible for ensuring the quality of Control System software releases. The team provides professional services in system integration and testing for Surface Drilling Division products. The team is involved in new product development projects and lifecycle maintenance of current products.

Your mission

In this role, you will do SW-related test activities with simulated environment and live machine. You create test specifications for new implementations and update existing when needed. You have an important role in ensuring quality of SW release. You will work with external and internal software developers and system engineers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Specify new and maintain existing test cases
  • Control System integration
  • Functional and system test execution on simulator environment and with real machine
  • Work tightly together with system engineers and SW developers to ensure quality of releases
About you and what we find important

You bring strong experience in embedded systems and software development, ideally within complex control system environments. You have a deep understanding of software control architectures, real-time systems, and communication protocols. You are comfortable driving test strategy and automation development (e.g., Robot Framework) and have a proven track record in software testing for safety-critical or high-reliability systems. Experience with autonomous or mobile machinery, integration testing, and system-level validation is highly valued. You demonstrate technical leadership, mentor colleagues, and drive continuous improvement of processes and tools. Your ability to collaborate across R&D, product development, and system integration teams will be key to success.

You have a suitable degree (M.Sc./B.Sc.) in computer science, electronics, automation or equivalent. As a person you are a self-directed team player with good co-operation and negotiation skills. For Finnish speakers, fluency in English is required. For English speakers, familiarity with Finnish is considered an advantage but not required. We work in a hybrid model at Sandvik; however, success in this role requires more presence in the office than working remotely.
