Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Product Designer to join our Design team in Helsinki. This senior IC role focuses on craft, systems thinking, and deep understanding of customer workflows to shape the product experience.

You’ll translate complex data-rich problems into intuitive experiences, partner with Product, Engineering, and AI teams, and mentor other designers while advancing the design system. We value outcomes and AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience with strong portfolio.
• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, HCI, CS, or related field.
• Experience designing end-to-end customer workflows for data-rich SaaS.
• Proficient in design and prototyping tools; capable of high-fidelity prototypes.
• Strong collaboration with engineering; knowledge of modern web technologies.
• Experience mentoring other designers and building design systems.

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Product Designer to join our growing team and play a key role in shaping the future of AlphaSense’s product experience. This is a Staff‑level individual contributor role, where you’ll lead through design craft, systems thinking, and a deep understanding of our customers’ workflows.

In this role, you will drive strategic design initiatives—translating complex, data‑rich problems into intuitive, high‑quality experiences that feel tailored to how our customers actually work. You’ll bring clarity to ambiguity, define end‑to‑end workflows, and ensure our product experiences are cohesive, scalable, and grounded in real user needs.

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and AI teams to shape how capabilities come together into meaningful user experiences — from early concept through execution. You’ll balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints, ensuring we deliver experiences that are not only functional, but differentiated through quality and usability.

As a senior member of the Design team, you’ll act as a multiplier, mentoring other designers, contributing to our design systems and patterns, and helping raise the bar for craft and consistency across the product. You’ll play a critical role in defining how we deliver AI‑native workflows, ensuring they are intuitive, trustworthy, and seamlessly integrated into our customers’ day‑to‑day work.

Who You Are

• 10+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in interaction design, systems thinking, and delivering high‑quality, user‑centered experiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Deep expertise in designing end‑to‑end customer workflows, with a proven ability to simplify complex, data‑rich problems into intuitive, habit‑forming product experiences.
• Highly proficient in design and prototyping tools, with the ability to communicate ideas through flows, systems, and high‑fidelity prototypes.
• Strong collaboration with engineering teams, with working knowledge of modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Bonus if you have experience with React or similar frameworks.
• Actively leverage AI to augment your design process from research and ideation to prototyping and iteration, and continuously build fluency with modern AI tools and workflows.
• Strong awareness of emerging AI and search technologies, with curiosity and initiative to apply new capabilities to real product experiences.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects end‑to‑end, navigate ambiguity, and drive clarity across cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing other designers, helping raise the bar for craft, systems thinking, and execution.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Highly curious, thoughtful, and driven, able to quickly build context, form strong points of view, and push work forward.
• Experience in financial services, investment workflows, or data‑heavy SaaS products is a plus.

• Design for systems, not just screens, working within and advancing a growing design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and cohesion across the product.
• Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI capabilities, applying new ideas to continuously improve product experiences.
• Communicate complex ideas with clarity and influence, ensuring alignment and momentum across cross‑functional partners.
