Job summary

Silicon Labs in Espoo, Finland seeks a software engineer to own the design and delivery of complex Bluetooth stack features, from specs through validation and customer issue resolution. You will weigh design tradeoffs across software, radio performance, power and product requirements, guiding other engineers on tough technical decisions.

The role requires 5+ years in SW design, embedded wireless experience, and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of SW design and engineering experience as a SW Engineer (excluding education).
• Experience with embedded wireless, networking software, system software, driver development or similar.
• Experience with ZigBee, Thread, Wi‑Fi, APIs and related wireless technologies.
• Positive attitude towards innovation, achievement, continuous technical learning, process orientation and quality assurance.
• Experience in agile teams is a plus.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the agile team to deliver Bluetooth low energy stack features from specification through testing and release.
• Perform feature and feasibility analyses, designing software and APIs.
• Implement features in embedded C using high-quality design practices and coding conventions.
• Use AI development tools to explore solutions, write tests, review code and prepare documentation.
• Review designs and code, document technical decisions and help other engineers solve problems.
• Develop automated tests and measure software performance.
• Work with build scripts, CI, developer tools, technical documentation and SDK software.
• Provide input to wireless specifications and participate in Bluetooth SIG working groups as relevant.
• Debug technically demanding issues and help customers succeed with our products.
• Provide ideas and innovations for making products and methods more competitive.

Job Description

Own the technical design and delivery of complex Bluetooth stack features, from interpreting specifications and evaluating design options through implementation, validation and customer issue resolution. Make design tradeoffs across software, radio performance, power and product requirements, and guide other engineers on difficult technical decisions.

• Perform feature and feasibility analyses, designing software and APIs.


• Implement features in embedded C using high-class design practices and coding conventions.


• Use AI development tools where helpful for exploring solutions, writing tests, reviewing code and preparing documentation, while checking their output carefully.


• Review designs and code, document technical decisions and help other engineers solve difficult problems.


• Develop automated tests and measure software performance.


• Work with build scripts, continuous integration, developer tools, technical documentation and SDK software.


• Provide input to wireless specifications and, where relevant, participate in Bluetooth SIG working groups.


• Debug technically demanding issues and help customers succeed with our products.


• Provide ideas and innovations for making our products and working methods even more competitive and extraordinary.

Skills / Experience / Characteristics

Minimum 5 years of SW design and engineering experience as a SW Engineer (excluding education).

• Experience with embedded wireless, networking software, system software, driver development or similar.


• Additional design experience with at least some of the following: SW platforms, SW architecture, APIs, embedded systems, wireless, internet protocols, local connectivity technologies (Zigbee, Thread, Wi‑Fi), development tools, and microcontrollers (Cortex‑M, Risc‑V).


• Positive attitude towards strong innovation, achievement, continuous technical learning, process‑orientation, and quality assurance.


• Work experience in agile teams according to the respective methodologies is a plus.


• Fluent written and spoken English.

Education Requirements

Preferably a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Salary & Compensation

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between €55,650 - €103,350 EUR. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
