Job summary

Elisa in Helsinki is seeking a Software Developer to design, build and operate large-scale digital services and media delivery platforms. You will work across cloud, on‑prem and edge, shaping reliable software used by hundreds of thousands of users each month.

You’ll collaborate with DevOps, SREs, and security experts, contribute to monitoring, automation, and modern tooling like GitHub Actions, Terraform and Ansible, and be challenged to grow in a hybrid, English-speaking team.

Qualifications

• Higher education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong fundamentals in software development and CS concepts.
• Proficient in at least one language such as Python or Java.
• Experience with production software development is beneficial.
• Familiar with automation and modern tooling (Ansible, Terraform, Git).

We are now looking for a Software Developer to join our team

Content Delivery is a multidisciplinary team within Elisa’s Technology & Operations organization. We develop and operate Elisa Viihde’s media streaming platform, enabling live TV streaming, recording, and content distribution for Viihde customers through our own content delivery network.

In this team, you’ll work and learn alongside experts in a wide range of technologies: DevOps, digital TV broadcast, multimedia streaming, and Content Delivery Networks. As part of the Digital Services organization, you’ll work within a broader community of IT experts – designers, architects, site reliability engineers, security experts – who will support you throughout your professional journey.

Role

As a Software Developer in our team, you’ll play a key role in the design, development, and operation of our service. This is a hands‑on role that combines software engineering with operational responsibility. You’ll work across a broad technology landscape that includes:

• Deployments ranging from public cloud to private cloud to hardware servers in Elisa's own data centers
• Tech stack that covers web-based front-ends, relational databases, and everything in between
• State-of-the-art systems for monitoring and observability

The role is based in Helsinki, where most of our key stakeholders and the rest of the Content Delivery team are located. In line with Elisa's hybrid working model, we work on‑site on average three days per week. Our working language is English.

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have:

• A higher education degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• A solid foundation in software development and computer science principles
• Working proficiency in at least one programming language like Python or Java
• Firm grasp of the modern tooling for integration and automation of software development like Ansible, Terraform, Git, GitHub Actions and so on
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently
• Interest in both software development and the operational aspects of running services
• Previous experience with software development in a production environment is beneficial
