Job summary

VTT is seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Materials Processing and Circular Solutions team in Tampere. You will apply data flows, AI-driven solutions and intelligent process automation to advance polymer recycling, coordinating EU and Business Finland projects and collaborating with customers and partners.

You will work across the plastics recycling value chain, sharing ideas and shaping the future of the industry.

Qualifications

• Master of Science degree in a relevant field or equivalent science experience.
• A doctoral degree is considered an asset.
• Experience applying computational modeling, ML or AI in polymer research.
• Understanding of polymer and plastics process technologies from lab to pilot scale.
• Good communication skills and ability to build high-value research collaboration.
• You have proficient English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze research data using digital tools like MATLAB, Python, or R.
• Lead and contribute to research in plastics processing and recycling.
• Coordinate preparation and management of EU- and Business Finland-funded projects.
• Advance circular economy solutions and ensure timely delivery of results.
• Build professional networks and act as a thought leader in your area.
