Job summary

IQM Quantum Computers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and validate mechanical components for our quantum computer systems. You will transform concepts into reliable, production-ready solutions while ensuring manufacturability, performance, and quality.

You will own technical projects, collaborate with the Mechanical Engineering Team Lead and multidisciplinary teams, and drive continuous improvements in design methodologies and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of mechanical design and development experience in industrial or commercial products.
• Proficiency in CAD modelling, documentation, and producing production-ready components.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, structural analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Experience managing engineering documentation, design changes, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document mechanical components and systems, including system layout and cable routing.
• Use CAD tools for modelling and analysis.
• Prepare technical documentation including drawings, BOMs, and datasheets.
• Lead design reviews and communicate options with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Own mechanical work packages from concept to production and ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Drive continuous improvements in design methodologies and documentation practices.
