Job summary

Wärtsilä in Vaasa, Finland, seeks a Senior Expert / Expert, Fuels to lead chemical analysis in the Fuel Laboratory and support fuel development, engine testing and customer projects. Qualifications

• M.Sc. in Chemistry or related field.
• Strong laboratory experience of instrumental analysis in a chemistry laboratory.
• Fluent English communication skills; Swedish and/or Finnish a strong benefit.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.
• Willingness to perform hands-on laboratory work when required.
• Team player with collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
• Experience with advanced analytical instruments (e.g. IC, XRF, GC, ICP-OES, FTIR, TGA/DSC).
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Structured way of working and ability to interpret data, reporting and support technical decisions.
• Interest in method development and continuous improvement.
• Experience in fuel analysis or petrochemicals; knowledge of alternative fuels is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert chemical competence to support fuel technology development and engine testing.
• Ensure high quality laboratory analysis and development of new analytical methods.
• Interpret results for conventional, bio-based and emerging sustainable fuels; support troubleshooting.
