Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and optimize cutting-edge data pipelines and modern platforms to drive impactful analytics and business intelligence solutions.
• Re-engineer legacy data solutions and analytics environments, driving modernization efforts aligned with best practices and cloud-native technologies.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to determine their fit for current and future data engineering projects.
• Tackle complex data engineering challenges with a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset, selecting the right tools and approaches for each use case.
• Demonstrate leadership by setting high standards in hands-on development, code quality, and technical excellence to inspire and guide the engineering team.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet both technical and strategic requirements.

Qualifications

• Proficient in utilizing data platforms and tools including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Data Factory, Airflow, and Data Lake/Lakehouse architectures to drive impactful analytics and business intelligence solutions.
• Expertise in designing and orchestrating highly scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across diverse batch and streaming workloads to drive modernization efforts and impactful analytics.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python
• Data modeling expertise, including star/snowflake schemas, Datavault 2.0 lakehouse principles, and medallion architecture
• Working with time-series data, especially using Azure Data Explorer (ADX) and KQL
• Building real-time data solutions using Azure Event Hubs or Kafka
• CI/CD and DataOps best practices, including Git, Azure DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code
• Solid experience with Azure Cloud ecosystem and services
• Software development background with a mindset for clean, testable, and maintainable code
• Basic reporting skills with Grafana, PowerBI or similar
• Experience working as a consultant
• Language skills: English and Finnish
