Job summary

Neste is seeking a Senior Business Controller to join the Oil Products, Refining Business Finance team in Espoo or Porvoo. You will focus on the NOSTE program and other development projects from a business finance perspective, collaborating with PMO, stream leads, and stakeholders to drive value.

The role emphasizes developing financial models, validating business cases, and enabling AI-driven improvements while maintaining high-quality outputs and timely gate reviews.

Responsibilities

• Act as main business finance contact for the NOSTE Program towards PMO, stream leads and initiative owners.
• Prepare and validate financial business case calculations with stakeholders, ensuring quality and timeliness for gate reviews.
• Support NOSTE driven processes development, controlling solutions and improvement items.
• Lead development work, including adopting new tools and finding efficient technical solutions.
• Support AI initiatives as the business finance expert and act as the AI Champion.

Senior Business Controller

to join our Oil Products, Refining Business Finance team in Espoo or Porvoo.

You will focus on the NOSTE program and other development projects from a business finance perspective. NOSTE is a program with the aim to reach the full potential of Porvoo refinery through new innovations and challenging the current limitations. In this role, you will work closely with the expanded Oil Products Business Finance team, NOSTE PMO, stream leads, and other key internal stakeholders.

Your role in our team

Act as main Business Finance contact in NOSTE Program towards Program Management Office (PMO), stream leads and initiative owners

Prepare and validate financial business case calculations in close co-operation with stakeholders while ensuring overall business case quality and timeliness for gate reviews

Support in NOSTE driven processes development, controlling solutions (e.g. cost follow-up, co-processing solutions) and improvement items (e.g. ways of working)

Leading development work, e.g. finding new technical solutions to use existing tools in the most efficient way and having a big role in adopting new tools

Support relevant NOSTE driven AI initiatives as business finance area expert and act as the "AI Champion"

Acting as internal project manager when needed

Keys to success in this role

Applicable education, e.g. Master’s degree in finance or business administration or in similar relevant field

Solid business controlling experience, proven ability to prepare high-quality business case calculations

Curiosity and hands-on interest in leveraging modern financial tools and AI solutions, “mindset of an AI champion”

Strong analytical capabilities with the skill to translate complex operation data into actionable financial insights

Continuous improvement attitude with the willingness to strive for changes

Excellent communication skills in English and Finnish and a collaborative, positive mindset
