Job summary

Agnico Eagle Finland Oy is seeking a Rock Mechanics Engineer for our Kittilä mine. You will join the rock mechanics team to ensure stable and safe underground production, performing observations, designing support, and aiding planning with instrumentation development.

We value a university degree in relevant fields and experience, with Finnish and English fluency. The role is day shift at the Kiistala mine area, with housing support and comprehensive employee benefits.

Qualifications

  • University degree in soil, rock construction, construction engineering, or bedrock geology.
  • Experience in mining or rock construction is advantageous; CAD/3D modeling skills are a plus.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and independently; bilingual Finnish/English helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Make and report rock mechanical observations in the mine with the rock mechanics team.
  • Design, monitor, and quality control rock mass support with the production team.
  • Support production and mine planning teams on rock mechanics aspects.
  • Develop and install rock mechanical instrumentation with the team.

Job description

We are seeking for the Kittilä gold mine

Rock Mechanics Engineer

In this role, you will work as part of the rock mechanics team, ensuring stable and safe production in the underground mine.

  • Making and reporting rock mechanical observations in the mine in cooperation with the rest of the rock mechanics team
  • Designing, monitoring, and quality controlling rock mass support in cooperation with the production team
  • Supporting production and mine planning teams in rock mechanics-related aspects
  • Development and installation work for rock mechanical instrumentation in cooperation with the rock mechanics team.

The employment is permanent, and the work is day shift. The job primarily requires presence at our mine area in Kiistala.

We expect from you:
  • A university degree in a suitable field, e.g., soil or rock construction, construction engineering, or bedrock geology
  • Previous experience in the mining or rock construction industry or structural geometry, 3D modeling, and the use of CAD software is a clear advantage. We are primarily looking for an experienced professional, but we are also open to those at the beginning of their career
  • Ability to handle pressure in a changing work environment and the ability to work independently
  • Fluent skills in Finnish and English
