Job summary

UPM in Kouvola, Finland, is seeking a Production Manager for the Kymi and Kaukas Pulp Mills. You will lead pulp production operations with a strong focus on safety, performance and people.

The role requires proven leadership in process industries, driving continuous improvement, and close collaboration with maintenance and technical teams. English is required; Finnish skills are an advantage.

Qualifications

• You have strong leadership experience from industrial production or process industry.
• You have a strong safety mindset and experience in leading EHS performance.
• You are an analytical, fact-based decision-maker with business-oriented thinking.
• You have excellent people leadership and collaboration skills.
• You are experienced with KPIs, targets and operational governance.
• You are fluent in English; Finnish skills are beneficial.

• Lead and develop pulp production operations with focus on safety, performance and people.
• Lead daily pulp production operations and ensure safe, efficient and stable performance.
• Develop production performance, cost efficiency and operational flexibility.
• Lead, coach and develop production organisation and line management.
• Drive continuous improvement, problem-solving and root cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with maintenance, technical, reliability and mill functions.
• Contribute to mill strategy execution and long-term development.
• Act as a role model in safety leadership and UPM ways of working.

What you will do

As a member of the Eastern Finland Pulp Mills Management Team, you will play a key role in contributing the strategic decision-making and driving the long-term development and success of Kymi and Kaukas Pulp mills.

In addition, you will:

• Lead and develop pulp production operations with strong focus on safety, performance and people
• Lead daily pulp production operations and ensure safe, efficient and stable performance
• Develop production performance, cost efficiency and operational flexibility
• Lead, coach and develop production organization and line management
• Drive continuous improvement, problem-solving and root cause analysis
• Ensure compliance with EHS, quality and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate closely with maintenance, technical, reliability and mill functions
• Contribute to mill strategy execution and long‑term development
• Act as a role model in safety leadership and UPM ways of working

Who you are

• You have strong leadership experience from industrial production or process industry
• You have solid understanding of pulp mill or other continuous process operations
• You have proven capability to drive performance, change and continuous improvement
• You have strong safety mindset and experience in leading EHS performance
• You are analytical and fact-based decision‑maker with business-oriented thinking
• You have excellent people leadership and collaboration skills
• You have experience in working with KPIs, targets and operational governance
• You are fluent in English and Finnish skills are required
