Our Underground Drilling Division Product Safety team is currently looking for a proactive Product Safety Engineer. The role is full-time, permanent and located in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.

The Underground Drilling division within Business area Mining is an industry leading global provider of drilling equipment for underground mining and tunneling industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy’s Tampere site is a global technology and manufacturing center for Underground Drilling equipment.

About your role

As a Product Safety Engineer, your main responsibility is to ensure that products placed on the market comply with the applicable safety regulations in their intended market areas. You will be focusing on developing and executing product safety and functional safety activities such as technical product risk assessments in new product development and current product engineering. Applying the standards and regulations to Sandvik underground drilling products and producing safety documentation are part of the daily work. You will be well onboarded into the role, and you will work with multiple internal stakeholders. This job requires occasional travelling abroad, approx. 1-5 trips per year.

In this role, you will focus on
  • Conducting technical risk assessments in underground drilling product development
  • Developing technical safety solutions with the engineering teams
  • Ensuring the current product fleet constantly complies with the applicable safety regulations
  • Applying safety regulations to products and services
  • Managing certification processes for underground drilling products
  • Interacting with customers in safety related matters
  • Participating in international standard development work
Your background and what we find important

We welcome both junior and senior candidates; the position will match your level. We are looking for a motivated, innovative and customer focused team player who fits well within our collaborative and international culture. You hold a master’s or bachelor’s degree in relevant field in engineering, such as electrics or automation. Familiarity with standard processes described in ISO 12100 and ISO 13849-1 and -2 is considered a big advantage. You possess a passion for safety and can express your opinions constructively. Fluent spoken and written English is expected. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.
