The University of Oulu invites applications for a Doctoral Researcher position in Ecology at the Ecology and Genetics Research Unit in Oulu, Finland. The project studies plant biodiversity changes under global change factors and involves collaboration with Helsinki and UC Davis groups.

The successful candidate will work on mechanisms related to dispersal, traits, and spatial context, integrating long-term data and new collections.

Qualifications

• MSc in plant community ecology or equivalent field.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience in plant biodiversity, experimental or global change research.
• Excellent statistical skills with R.
• Ability to travel and conduct field work.
• Good grassland plant identification skills.
• Knowledge of grassland ecosystems (temperate, tundra).
• Strong motivation for doctoral studies.
• Willingness to work in an international team.

Responsabilités

• Carry out doctoral research addressing mechanisms of plant biodiversity change.
• Investigate roles of spatial context, dispersal, biotic interactions and trait change in biodiversity responses to global change factors.
• Collaborate with international teams and project leaders; develop research questions and experimental plans.
• Utilize existing data and collect new data from long-term experiments to answer the research questions.
