Job summary

University of Oulu invites applications for a fixed-term PhD student position in the Department of Education and Psychology. The appointed researcher will work on the Irony Understanding Development in Adolescence project, conducting doctoral research, co-designing experiments, data collection and analysis.

You will publish in international peer‑reviewed journals, present at conferences, and receive supervision within UniOGS with open science data management and GDPR‑compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s or equivalent degree completed before start date
• Interest or experience in language research and motivation for long-term doctoral study
• Basic training in research methods and willingness to develop quantitative and multi-method approaches
• Fluent Finnish and English
• Eligibility for UniOGS doctoral program and start of UniOGS study rights

Responsibilities

• Conduct doctoral research within the Irony Understanding Development in Adolescence project
• Co-design and implement experiments and collect data
• Analyze data and manage datasets in an open science framework
• Assist with ethical review applications and GDPR‑compliant practices
• Publish results in high‑quality journals and present at conferences
• Develop international researcher profile under supervision
