Job summary

Stora Enso is seeking a Packaging Design Production Trainee for the Helsinki office. You will support the Packaging Development Experts in creating sustainable packaging solutions and learn through hands-on work in design, materials selection, and workflow optimization.

Under guidance from experienced designers, you will gain practical experience with ArtiosCAD, Illustrator, and prototyping, while contributing to real projects that impact packaging development.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in ArtiosCAD and Adobe Illustrator required.
  • Knowledge or experience with Esko Studio and Rhino desirable.
  • Strong prototyping abilities with attention to production details.
  • Structured, organized work style with task prioritization.
  • Fluent English communication skills are essential.
  • Pursuing studies in a relevant packaging/design field.

Responsibilities

  • Support design team in creating innovative packaging solutions.
  • Assist with production tasks, including workflow setup and digital printing.
  • Organize tasks between ArtiosCAD and plotter operations.
  • Maintain workspace, equipment, and material stock for samples.
  • Prepare, pack, and ship samples with accurate packing lists.
  • Photograph final samples to document designs and iterat e refinements.
  • Contribute to understanding packaging lines and conversion processes.

Your Role as a Packaging Design Production Trainee

As a Packaging Design Production Trainee, you will support our Packaging Development Experts team in creating innovative and sustainable packaging solutions. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to learn and contribute to the development, design, and optimization of packaging solutions for a variety of products. Under the guidance of experienced designers, you will gain hands-on experience in materials selection, structural design, and workflow optimization.

Your key responsibilities
  • Assisting with production tasks in our design space, including running the digital printer and setting up plotter configurations.
  • Streamlining workflows by structuring tasks between ArtiosCAD and plotter operations.
  • Maintaining office space, equipment, and storage areas to ensure optimal working conditions.
  • Managing connections to the Sample Service to maintain material stock at the office.
  • Preparing and packing samples for shipment, including creating packing lists and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Photographing final samples to document and showcase designs.
  • Providing iterative support for design adjustments and refinements.
  • Gaining knowledge of packaging and filling lines, as well as packaging converting processes.

Who Are We Looking For?

To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

  • Strong skills in ArtiosCAD and Adobe Creative Suite, mainly Adobe Illustrator (required).
  • Knowledge or experience with Esko Studio, and Rhino (desirable).
  • Skills in prototyping: eye for detail in production & assembling
  • Structured & organized way of working and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Fluency in English, with excellent communication skills.
  • A background or ongoing studies in a relevant field, with availability in your final semesters.
  • An interest in packaging design, sustainability, and production workflows.
  • A proactive and organized mindset, with a strong attention to detail.
