Job summary

Solo Health Oy seeks an ophthalmologist for Vaasa Central Hospital's ophthalmology unit (outpatient clinic) from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2028. The specialist will examine and treat adults and children referred to the clinic and participate in emergency eye care within standard working hours.

Qualifications

• Specialist ophthalmology qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience as an ophthalmologist.
• Vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act.
• Good spoken and written skills in at least one national language of Finland and at least satisfactory skills in the other language.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat adult and paediatric patients referred to the clinic.
• Manage official working hours and emergency eye care.
• Diagnose and treat common and rare eye diseases.
• Perform elective and emergency minor procedures (laser treatments, Ozurdex implants).
• Consult other healthcare staff.

Job description

Solo Health is seeking an Ophthalmologist for Vaasa Central Hospital in the Ostrobothnia wellbeing services county for the period from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2028.

The role is based in the ophthalmology unit, focusing specifically on the outpatient clinic.

The duties include examining and treating adult and pediatric patients referred to the clinic, as well as managing official working hours emergency eye care.

The specialist must be capable of diagnosing and treating both common and rare specialized eye diseases.

The role involves elective and emergency minor procedures, such as laser treatments and Ozurdex implants, and consulting other healthcare staff.

Surgical procedures such as cataract or eyelid surgeries are not part of the job description.

The work is independent but integrated into a multidisciplinary team including nurses and an optometrist.

The hospital uses the LifeCare patient information system.

Working hours are 8:00 to 15:30, including a 30-minute lunch break.

Compensation is based on experience, and there is an option to work as a professional practitioner.
