Job summary

KONE Technology & Innovation (KTI) seeks an R&D Mechanical Engineer for Kunshan, China to design and study mechanical elevator components, aiming at cost savings, performance improvements and quality enhancements. You will use 3D CAD (Creo) to model components and validate designs with tests, collaborating with multiple internal teams.

You will also contribute to fire certification activities for elevator doors, preparing samples and working with external labs and Notified Bodies as part of the

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautic Engineering (or equivalent).
• At least 3-5 years of working experience in Mechanical Industry.
• Very good knowledge of 3D CAD modeling (preferably Creo).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods and ability to find innovative technical solutions.
• Knowledge of PDM - Basic knowledge of coding (C++ or equivalent) for product structure management.
• Hands-on approach with prototypes and testing.
• Good spoken and written English - Proficiency in MS Office.
• Team player, open and communicative, able to build good relationships with colleagues.
• Good problem-solving skills, using logic and data-driven decisions.
• Strong organizing and prioritizing skills: manage urgency and importance, systematic task handling.
• Innovative mindset and drive to generate new ideas and ways of working.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Study and design mechanical components of the elevator.
• Use 3D CAD modeling (Creo) for models and configuration rules.
• Validate designed components through experimental tests on the product.
• Interface with R&D, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, installation and maintenance units.
• Support fire certification processes for elevator doors, including door samples for fire tests and involvement with Notified Bodies.

Job description

KONE Technology & Innovation (KTI) is a global organization of technology, design and IT experts who research and create new technologies and solutions for innovative People Flow®

We are now looking for a R&D Mechanical engineer to join R&D team, based in Kunshan, China

He/she will work in the study and design of mechanical components of elevator, in order to achieve cost saving, offer enhancement and quality improvement on the product, as well as new and original design solutions.

The design phase will include the use of 3D CAD for the preparation of the models and configuration rules of the components.

Validation of the designed components, by following experimental tests on the product, will be also part of his/her job.

During his/her activity, he/she will interface with other R&D units, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, installation and maintenance to follow and support the implementation of component modification in all its phases.

Relevant part of the activity will also be to follow the fire certification process of the elevator doors, taking care of all the activities for the preparation of the door samples for fire test in external laboratories, technical assessment and fire certification with relevant Notified Bodies.

Main requirements for the ideal candidate:

• Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautic Engineering (or equivalent)
• At least 3-5 years of working experience in Mechanical Industry
• Very good knowledge of 3D CAD modeling (preferably Creo)
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods and ability to find innovative technical solutions
• Knowledge of PDM (Product Data Management) - Basic knowledge of coding (C++ or equivalent) for product structure management

• Good problem-solving skills, using logic and fact-based decision making
