Job summary

Wärtsilä Corporation in Helsinki or Vaasa seeks a Legal Counsel to join Energy Legal and Compliance on a temporary basis covering family leave from mid‑January 2027 to mid‑August 2027. The role offers hybrid remote work and support to the Energy Services Europe business globally.

You will handle wide-ranging legal matters, contribute to new business concepts and report to Head of Legal, Energy Services. Readiness to travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Law degree from a relevant jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in either in-house or private practice.
• Strong negotiation, drafting and communication skills.
• Commercial mindset with strategic thinking and ability to add value.
• Interest in legal tech, digitalisation and AI, with proactive improvement mindset.

Legal Counsel (Temporary position)

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join Energy Legal and Compliance team for a temporary period covering team member’s family leave between mid - January 2027 and mid-August 2027.

This role will primarily support the Energy Services Europe business area . The preferred location for this position is Helsinki or Vaasa, Finland but other locations, preferably on European time zone, are also negotiable. We offer a possibility to hybrid remote work.

Your role and responsibilities

Energy Services provides lifecycle services and solutions to power plant owners globally and the Energy Services Legal & Compliance team is accountable for securing commercially oriented and timely legal support for the Energy Services business globally.

As a Legal Counsel in the Energy Services Legal and Compliance team, you will handle various types of legal and compliance matters for the business. You will also contribute to the development of new business concepts. In this position, you will be part of a global legal team and report to Head of Legal, Energy Services .

Your Responsibilities include:

• Provide commercially oriented and solution based legal support and compliance advice in all operative business matters
• Draft, negotiate, and advise on, various types of transactions and commercial contracts
• Support the business in the development of new business concepts and innovation
• Support compliance and governance management in the business
• Manage claims and disputes
• Provide training to the business on relevant legal and compliance issues
• Actively participate in the development and implementation of policies, work processes and templates

Requirements for the position :

• Education: A law degree from a relevant jurisdiction
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years' work experience in either an in-house or a private practice role.
