Job summary

Greenstep is seeking a Lead Fabric / Data Platform Consultant to join our Data & Technology team in Finland. You own the architecture, build core platforms, and guide clients through platform choices in production.

You’ll work with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, dbt and Snowflake, leading engagements and mentoring junior engineers. This role is client-facing, technical, and based in hybrid Finland with 50% office time.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience delivering data platforms and analytics in consulting or client settings.
• Fabric workloads: architectural understanding across core Fabric components.
• Broad Azure data ecosystem experience: Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, storage and networking basics.
• Proficiency with Databricks, dbt and Snowflake; able to judge fit for client scenarios.
• Strong Power BI skills: semantic modelling, advanced DAX, and data delivery to business users.
• Proficient Python / PySpark and SQL for data processing and pipelines.
• Experience with source control-based development and CI/CD for data workloads (Azure DevOps or GitHub).
• Fluent Finnish and working English proficiency; client work often in Finnish.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data platform architectures including ingestion, processing, storage and serving.

Today we are a community of more than 800 experts across the Nordics and Europe, serving over 3,000 clients, and we are still growing fast.

We are now looking for a Lead Fabric / Data Platform Consultant to join our Data & Technology team in Finland (~100 specialists). We work in hybrid mode and spend at least 50% of our working time in the office with colleagues.

The Role

This is the senior technical seat in our data platform engagements. You own the architecture, you build the hard parts yourself, and you are the person the client trusts when a decision needs to be made and defended.

Microsoft Fabric and Azure are our core platform, and our client work increasingly spans Databricks, dbt and Snowflake. We are not looking for someone who knows one product and treats the rest as a footnote. We want a lead who can look at a client's situation and say, with reasons, which platform combination actually fits, then take that solution into production.

You will typically be the technical lead on an engagement: shaping the target architecture, setting the engineering standards the team works to, and pairing with our data engineers and BI developers to get there. Some engagements are a single client where you are embedded as their platform lead. Others are larger builds where you lead a small delivery team.

The lead scope here is technical and client facing, not line management. You grow people through mentoring, code review and how you run a project, and you help shape how our practice delivers.

In practice, you will:

• Own the end-to-end architecture of client data platforms: ingestion, transformation, storage, modelling, serving and the operating model around them.
• Design and build on Microsoft Fabric across OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory pipelines and Synapse Data Engineering, and on the wider Azure data stack.
• Build and lead work on Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog), dbt and Snowflake where those are the right fit, including migrations and hybrid setups between them.
• Develop layered lakehouse and warehouse architectures (medallion, dimensional, and where relevant Data Vault) with real attention to partitioning, performance and cost.
• Build performant Power BI semantic models and reusable DAX that clients can trust as a single source of truth.
• Set the engineering discipline: version control, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and monitoring, so what we ship stays maintainable in production.
• Make data governance, security and privacy part of the design from day one (access, classification, lineage, RLS, GDPR).
• Advise clients directly: challenge requirements, run workshops, present options and trade offs to both engineers and business stakeholders, and support our sales team in scoping and solutioning.
• Strengthen our practice: reference architectures, reusable accelerators (Terraform, for example), DevOps and governance models, and mentoring colleagues.

What we are looking for

• Substantial hands-on experience delivering data platforms and analytics, including in a consulting or client project setting, with a track record of owning solutions end to end.
• Demonstrable Microsoft Fabric experience across its core workloads, plus architectural understanding of how a Fabric implementation should be designed.
• Solid experience with the broader Azure data ecosystem: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, storage, networking basics and identity.
• Real working experience with Databricks, dbt and Snowflake. We expect fluency in at least two of the three and informed judgement about all of them, not a passing familiarity.
• Strong Power BI skills: semantic (tabular) modelling, advanced DAX, Power Query (M), report design, workspace and deployment management.
• Strong Python / PySpark and SQL.
• Deep data modelling knowledge and a clear point of view on modern ELT patterns.
• Source control-based development and CI/CD for data workloads (Azure DevOps or GitHub, Fabric deployment pipelines and Git integration).
• Fluent Finnish and working proficiency in English. Client work is often in Finnish.

As a lead consultant, you have

• Confidence facilitating discussions and presenting to non-technical stakeholders and client management.
• Business understanding. You care what a solution is worth, not only how elegant it is.
• The judgement to make a clear recommendation, and the honesty to say when a client's preferred option is the wrong one.
• Collaborative instincts. You share what you know and raise the level of the whole team.
• Genuine curiosity, because this toolset moves fast and standing still is not an option.

Nice to have

• Real-Time Intelligence / Eventhouse (KQL), Data Activator, or streaming and event driven data experience.
• Microsoft Purview and hands on data governance (classification, lineage, sensitivity labels).
• MLflow, feature stores, or supporting data science and ML workloads in production.
• Integrations with Power Platform, Dynamics 365 Business Central, NetSuite, or enterprise sources such as SAP (BW / Datasphere).
• Practical use of Copilot and AI assisted development in data work, and interest in the emerging Fabric agentic stack (data agents, Fabric IQ).
• PowerShell for environment automation, and paginated reports for pixel perfect operational reporting.
• Presales experience: scoping, estimating, and writing the technical part of a proposal.
