Job summary

Valmet invites you to lead the R&D team for embedded measurement solutions in Kajaani. You will steer software and hardware development, advance architecture, and guide a multidisciplinary team toward innovative, reliable products.

You will collaborate across product management, production, testing facilities, and global stakeholders, balancing people leadership with technology strategy to deliver value and sustainable performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (M.Sc. preferred).
• Strong experience in Embedded systems development, Embedded software engineering, Electronics design and/or System architecture.
• Proven ability to lead the team and multidisciplinary technical projects.
• Strong Finnish and English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Tampere and Oulu, Finland.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of software and hardware professionals working with advanced embedded measurement systems.
• Own and drive technology development related to embedded software, electronics, and system architecture.
• Guide key technical decisions, technology selection, and long-term technology roadmaps.
• Act as a senior technical authority and contribute to architectural development and problem-solving.
• Lead public research and development projects, including Business Finland funded initiatives.
• Collaborate with product management, R&D, production, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product development outcomes.
• Coordinate external development partners and subcontractors.
• Foster innovation and knowledge sharing within the team and wider organization.
• Support Valmet's strategic goals through technology leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
