Job summary

Wolt is hiring experienced Software Engineers for the Global Retail group in Helsinki. You will shape how customers discover, browse, and buy retail products across Wolt, DoorDash and Deliveroo, focusing on scalable microservices and JVM-based tech.

You’ll work on Kotlin and Go services in a complex multi-team environment, contributing to architecture, data streaming, and cloud infrastructure, while balancing ownership with collaboration and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong background in building scalable microservices.
• Experience with Kotlin; familiarity with Java/Scala or other JVM languages is a plus.
• Proficiency in designing, building and operating cloud-based services.

As a Software Engineer in Global Retail, you'll shape how customers discover, browse, and buy retail products - apparel, beauty, electronics, auto parts and more - across Wolt, DoorDash and Deliveroo. Retail is a large growth opportunity for the business, and our mission is to be the most trusted and magical way to shop the brands and local stores customers love. You'll play a key role in making that real - from product discovery through to shopping experience in the apps millions of people use every day. You’ll join an evolving area where we are replacing and improving parts of the existing consumer apps, building specific retail journeys within large-scale B2C applications. This means working in a complex environment where multiple teams own different parts of the same app, and where strong technical judgment is needed to create consistency, quality and speed across teams.

What You’ll Do

As an engineer in our group, you’ll work on production-level microservices in Kotlin and Go, helping shape how Retail succeed with Wolt. You’ll have opportunities to:

• Design, build, and scale reliable systems that power Retail experiences.
• Work across the full development lifecycle – from business logic and testing to cloud infrastructure and data streaming.
• Collaborate on architecture and technology choices that keep our systems simple, scalable, and efficient.
