The Cloud Content Security Lab at Helsinki Research Center is dedicated to driving technological advancements to protect the online safety of Huawei mobile users in the Harmony OS ecosystem. We build advanced AI detection solutions to ensure content safety and AI safety such as harmful/malicious content detection, agentic AI safety, and machine unlearning. We are looking for passionate and motivated scholars and interns with a solid track record of solving challenging problems, advancing state‑of‑the‑art, and a passion for ground‑breaking research that could be scaled to a production environment with an emphasis on the intersection of AI and security.

Huawei Research Center is looking for Research Interns who can participate in and contribute to our research in Computer Vision (CV) and Multimodal AI. Our cutting‑edge research focuses on the development and application of multimodal AI models for generation and understanding of visual/multimodal data. This includes but is not limited to:

Tasks

The candidate will work on cutting‑edge research topics developing and/or applying state‑of‑the‑art machine learning models. This could include development of novel architectures or application of existing ones in practical industrial settings.

Locations: On‑site at our Helsinki Research Center Ruoholahti office.

Requirements

Be a Master's student or Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, Physics, Computational Linguistics, Computer Vision, ML and security, or related areas.

• Have course credits in AI/ML.
• Be excited about using AI/ML in Computer Vision and Multimodal applications.
• Have good software and Python programming skills.
• Be fluent in English.
• Be comfortable working in a multi‑national/cultural environment.
• Have research experience in the development/training/application of ML learning models.
• Have published works in relevant conferences/journals, preferably in venues such as ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, NeurIPS, EMLP, BMVC, WACV.
• Candidates with ICPC, IOI/IMO, IOAI and other international competition in computer science, machine learning, and AI, etc. are highly preferred.
