Global Procurement Strategy Director

Job summary

Ponsse is seeking a senior procurement leader to direct its global procurement function from our Tampere (Finland) location. You will oversee direct and non-product procurement, align suppliers with business goals and drive cost competitiveness across the organization.

Reporting to the COO, you will collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, quality and product management, shaping strategy, governance and supplier relationships while ensuring sustainability and compliance across global operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, business or another relevant field, or equivalent experience
• Proven track record in a senior procurement leadership role, preferably in an international industrial or manufacturing company
• People leadership experience is required
• Ability to lead and develop procurement strategies, supplier management models, category management, contract management and procurement processes
• Understanding of heavy-duty machinery, industrial manufacturing, supply chains and global supplier markets is beneficial
• Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance cost, quality, delivery, risk and sustainability
• Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness to travel
• Fluency in English and Finnish; other languages are an advantage

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Ponsse's global procurement function, including direct and non-product procurement
• Ensure procurement supports business targets, cost management, quality and delivery performance
• Be part of the Operations Leadership Team and report to the Chief Operations Officer
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, R&D, product management and quality to align procurement decisions with value and compliance
• Lead development and execution of procurement strategy and supplier relationships
• Drive cost competitiveness, supplier performance, risk management and contract management across procurement
• Ensure procurement practices align with sustainability targets and responsible business conduct
