Job summary

University of Helsinki invites applications for a fully funded doctoral researcher position in the lab of Sarah O’Keefe at Viikki Campus, Helsinki, Finland. The project aims to inhibit protein synthesis using cutting-edge cellular and chemical biology methods, including cryoEM and gene editing.

You will complete an article-based PhD thesis over 44 months, under supervision by the PI and co-supervisor, with English as the working language and extensive training in high-throughput screening,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biology, biological sciences, biochemistry, pharmacy or a closely related field, with strong research experience and willingness to switch fields.
• Competencies in cell culture, molecular biology, protein purification/expression and cryoEM will be learned during the project.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently, problem solve and collaborate in a team.
• Merited criteria: prior research experience in industry or a research-intensive lab or knowledge of protein synthesis field.
