Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer, R&D, focused on fuel injection system and component design. The role is part of the Fuel Systems team with hybrid work options and travel about 10% to meet suppliers in Finland and Central Europe.

Location preference is Vaasa, Finland, with Turku and Helsinki also possible. The candidate will design in NX, perform light FEM calculations, participate in design reviews, and collaborate across Testing & Validation, Calculation & Simulation, and

Qualifications

A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Machine Construction or a similar field.
A few years of experience in mechanical design or product development.
Experience in hydraulics or understanding of hydraulics.
Experience with NX or similar CAD tools.
Good problem-solving skills.
Willingness to learn and continuously develop expertise.

Responsibilities

Create 3D models and detailed drawings.
Perform light FEM calculations and support the Calculation & Simulation department.
Participate in system and component design activities.
Support fuel injection manufacturers during design implementation.
Support Testing & Validation activities.
Support Service with field experience-related matters.
Participate in design reviews with suppliers.
