Job summary

Skydio is seeking a Wireless Software Engineer to advance wireless capabilities for autonomous drones. The role focuses on extended range, robust connectivity, and secure data transmission across WLAN, LTE, and 5G; you will work with chipsets, firmware, and software to meet performance KPIs in interference-heavy environments.

You will collaborate with RF, hardware, and systems teams to design innovative mesh communications and validating algorithms under real-world network conditions.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of WLAN and/or cellular protocols (OFDMA, mesh networking).
• Proficient in firmware development for wireless systems.
• Experience in C++, C, and Python.
• Ability to diagnose cross-layer issues with hardware teams.

Responsibilities

• Push the boundaries of Skydio’s wireless capabilities to improve range, connectivity and security.
• Develop new communication protocols for mesh drone networking.
• Design and optimize wireless software and firmware across WLAN, LTE and 5G.
• Validate system-level algorithms under congested and dynamic networks.
