Job summary

Distance Technologies is seeking a part-time Data Collection Driver in Helsinki to drive a company-provided car and collect camera and sensor data for its next-generation display technologies. Flexibility and independence are valued as you work alongside engineers in a real R&D environment.

You will plan routes, run data collection scripts from a laptop, verify equipment, troubleshoot issues, and upload recordings with notes on driving conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid Category B driving license and responsible driving.
• Recent and regular driving experience in urban Finland.
• Good computer skills and ability to follow technical instructions.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic issues with Wi‑Fi, USB devices, cables, storage and similar equipment.
• Reliable and independent approach to work.
• Familiarity with Linux is a plus.
• Experience with cameras, lenses, sensors or similar equipment is a plus.
• Basic scripting skills are helpful for automation.
• Familiarity with computer vision or related technologies is a plus.

Drive, collect real-world data and help develop next-generation technology designed to make vehicles safer and smarter.

What will you be doing?

Distance Technologies is looking for a part-time Data Collection Driver to support the development of its next-generation display technologies. Your main responsibility is to drive a Distance-provided car and collect camera and sensor data in different environments around the capital area. The data is used by Distances R&D teams to develop technologies such as depth estimation, positioning, and latency compensation, so your drives might take you from city streets and highways to forest roads in varying conditions.

Based on requests from the engineering team, you will plan suitable routes, operate pre-made data collection scripts from a laptop, and verify that the cameras and sensors are working properly. During the drive, you will troubleshoot basic technical issues independently, such as Wi‑Fi, cable, USB device or storage problems. After each drive, you will check and upload the recordings and document the driving conditions and any unexpected events.

Practicalities:

This is a part-time (16-32,5h/month) and fixed term position until 31.1.2027. Working hours are flexible and agreed based on data collection needs. As data collection depends on suitable weather conditions, scheduled shifts may occasionally need to be rescheduled at short notice due to weather. We therefore hope that you are flexible regarding working days and hours. In this role you will be employed directly as a aTalent employee at Distance Technologies. Start time is as soon as possible. The role will be located in Helsinki. Salary in this position is 18,00-22,00 €/hour depending on the level of your experience, and will be negotiated individually.
