Job summary

EWQ Zone is hiring a hands-on DevOps Engineer to join our Helsinki team, shaping the future of retail technology across the Nordics. You will build, maintain, and optimize containerized environments and delivery pipelines in a robust private cloud and microservices architecture.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in DevOps or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
  • Automation scripting and Linux administration.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve containerized applications using Docker and related tools.
  • Support and improve container orchestration environments (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
  • Ensure reliable, repeatable deployment processes.
  • Implement and manage infrastructure using IaC tools.

About The Role

EWQ Zone develops cutting‑edge software and management tools for Queue Management Systems, Digital Marketing, and Electronic Price Communication. Their solutions power modern retail environments and are supported by a robust private cloud infrastructure and microservices‑based architecture.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will focus on building, maintaining, and improving containerized environments and delivery pipelines. You will collaborate closely with development team and contribute to the continuous evolution of the company’s infrastructure through automation and best practices. This is a hands‑on engineering role where you will actively contribute to implementation and operations, playing a key role in developing and improving the platform.

Work tasks
  • Building, maintaining, and optimizing containerized applications using Docker and related tools
  • Supporting and improving container orchestration environments (e.g., Kubernetes)
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
  • Ensuring reliable, repeatable, and efficient deployment processes
  • Implementing and managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Automating operational tasks and improving system consistency
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting Linux and Windows‑based production systems
  • Supporting high availability and performance across services
  • Monitoring systems and investigating issues using tools such as Prometheus and ELK Stack
  • Applying security best practices in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure configurations
  • Collaborating closely with developers in an agile environment
  • Supporting distributed systems and IoT‑related environments
We are looking for
  • 3–5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, SRE, or a similar role
  • Strong hands‑on experience with containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Solid Linux administration and scripting skills
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK Stack, Zabbix)
  • Good understanding of networking and system operations
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken
It is a plus if you have
  • Experience with infrastructure security and DevSecOps practices
  • Familiarity with web servers (nginx, Apache), proxies, and load balancers (HAProxy, Cloudflare, F5 BIG-IP)
  • Experience working with microservices‑based systems
  • Programming background (e.g., Node.js, PHP, JavaScript)
  • Working proficiency in Finnish and/or Swedish
