Job summary

Wärtsilä Oyj Abp is seeking a Lead Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to lead cloud infrastructure, platform services, and DevOps practices for the Decarbonisation Services ecosystem. The role emphasizes defining architecture, CI/CD, IaC, and secure, scalable platforms across teams.

The preferred locations are Helsinki or Vaasa with hybrid work options. Candidates should have MSc/BSc in a relevant field and strong cloud, IaC, and platform engineering experience.

Qualifications

• MSc/BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud.
• Proven experience in infrastructure architecture and platform engineering.
• Deep understanding of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD practices, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration management.
• Strong knowledge of networking, security, identity management, and system integration.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized solutions, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, DevOps, or similar technologies is considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of energy management systems, power systems, microgrids, industrial software solutions, or experience in platform transitions and modernisation programs is seen as beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and platform services.
• Define architecture principles, standards, and best practices for reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Establish and continuously improve DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Improve developer productivity through automation, tooling, monitoring, and self-service capabilities.
• Drive operational excellence through observability, logging, monitoring, and incident management practices.
• Act as the technical authority for platform and infrastructure-related topics.
• Guide development teams on architecture, deployment strategies, cybersecurity, and platform design.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, cybersecurity specialists, and product management teams.
