Overview

Lead the Way in Shaping Circularity - Join Valmet's Growth Journey! We are looking for a proactive Business Development Manager to join the newly founded Circularity Growth Technology Unit. Circularity Growth drives the circular economy by developing new solutions and business models and creating new business for Valmet. The current focus is on chemical recycling of plastics, with ongoing exploration of opportunities to commercialize our existing pyrolysis technology for advanced biofuels and chemicals from biomass.

In this role you will actively contact potential customers, partners and other stakeholders to develop demonstration and commercial projects for chemical recycling of plastics. You will also explore alternative paths to the market and help develop the business plan as we progress.

The core internal stakeholders are based in Vantaa and Tampere; your preferred location would be one of these Valmet offices. If you have the required experience and competencies, we are open to considering other Valmet locations. You will report to the Director, Circularity Growth Technology Unit.

Responsibilities
  • Develop opportunities independently with a high level of autonomy and initiative.
  • Proactively engage customers and stakeholders to identify pain points and propose solutions.
  • Build and maintain a network, including activity on social media and other channels.
  • Participate in technology evaluation, land lease considerations, securing feedstock, off-take agreements, O&M contracts, financing, and other requirements to progress projects.
  • Develop and refine business plans and pathways to market as opportunities evolve.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6–8 years of relevant professional work experience in project development or sales within a related industry.
  • Relevant educational background (e.g., economics, chemical engineering, chemistry, industrial engineering and management).
  • Experience in a related industry such as petrochemical, waste management or thermal processes.
  • Proven ability to translate customer needs into sales opportunities.
  • Demonstrated proactiveness and ability to work independently.
  • Strong investment calculation skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with presentation, negotiation and analytical skills; other languages are an advantage.
  • Teamwork skills across diverse teams.
  • Ambitious mindset with a business orientation and a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
  • Previous experience in chemical recycling of plastics or project development in waste processing is a strong advantage.
