Job summary

Patria is seeking a Business-oriented Business Controller to support the Defence and Weapon Systems business area. You will be a key financial partner to management and operational teams, ensuring governance, forward‑looking insights, and high‑quality decision support.

Preferred location: Tampere. The role requires 5+ years in business controlling, strong analytical and communication skills in Finnish and English, and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP S/4 is a plus).

Qualifications

• 5+ years in business controlling, financial planning, or similar senior finance roles.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted financial partner to business leadership and management.
• Provide proactive analysis on financial performance, risks, opportunities, and drivers.
• Communicate financial insights clearly to stakeholders.
• Lead monthly performance reporting and forecasting for area of responsibility.
• Drive accuracy and timely forecasts aligned with strategy and corporate requirements.
• Support finance processes and IT development, including ERP initiatives.
• Promote continuous improvement and AI adoption within Business Control.

Defence and Weapon Systems is responsible for, among other things, the sales, offering, and delivery of weapon systems, air surveillance-related products, and drones.

We are looking for a

Business‑oriented Business Controller

to support the growth and performance of our Defence and Weapon Systems Business Area.

In this role, you will act as a key financial partner to Defence and Weapon System’s rapidly growing business, ensuring strong financial governance, forward‑looking insights, and high‑quality decision support. You will work closely with management and operational teams, requiring excellent communication skills, analytical capability, and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnering & Decision Support:

• Act as a trusted financial partner to business leadership, supporting strategic and operational decision‑making
• Provide proactive analysis on financial performance, risks, opportunities, and business drivers
• Communicate financial insights clearly to various stakeholders
• Monthly performance reporting and forecasting tasks for your area of responsibility
• Drive accuracy and timeliness in financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with business strategy and corporate requirements.
• Contribute to finance process and IT development initiatives, such as our ERP program and the development of integrated financial planning and reporting solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, adoption of AI, and ways of working within the Business Control team to enhance efficiency, transparency, and decision-support capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in business controlling, financial planning, or similar senior finance roles
• Independent, analytical, and structured working style
• Strong business acumen with experience in partnering with operational and commercial teams
• Development-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in improving processes, systems, and ways of working.
• Solid understanding of ERP systems (SAP S/4 is considered an advantage), cost accounting, and manufacturing‑related finance
• Excellent communication skills in Finnish and English
• Being comfortable with change is a major asset. Our company is working on an ERP program and our business is growing and diversifying, This means that areas of responsibility will be adjusted between Business Control team members from time to time.
