Responsibilities

• Support Project Director in delivering business objectives and manage customer relationships.

• Oversee installation, commissioning and testing of control systems with contractors and vendors.
• Ensure alignment with design intent, client expectations and safety/regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with PMC, HSE, Supervisors, Quality and Commissioning teams on BMS/EPMS matters.

About this opportunity

As a Controls Manager (BMS/EPMS) you will responsible for reviewing design and implementation of control systems for data centre projects,coordinating testing, ensuring systems operate as intended, and training staff for operational readiness.

Your expertise in BMS and EPMS will ensure seamless integration, optimal performance, and reliability of building and electrical monitoring/control systems, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability. You will collaborate with project teams, clients, and contractors to deliver innovative solutions that meet stringent operational and sustainability standards.

Location: Lahti.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Supporting Project Director in delivering business objectives.
• Positively engaging with customers and developing, growing and maintaining customer relationships.
• Delivering high-quality services and deliverables, ensuring that services meet our customers’ requirements.
• Leading the development and review of BMS and EPMS specifications, ensuring alignment with data centre requirements for redundancy, scalability, and resilience.
• Managing the installation, commissioning, and testing of control systems, coordinating with contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with design intent and client expectations.
• Overseeing the integration of BMS and EPMS with other data centre systems (e.g. HVAC, power distribution, and security)), optimising performance for energy efficiency and operational uptime.
• Identifying and mitigating risks related to control system failures, ensuring robust monitoring and failover mechanisms are in place to maintain critical operations.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for the customer´s team, PMC team, including HSE, Supervisors, Quality and Commissioning, and contractors on BMS/EPMS matters, providing technical guidance and ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  
• Ensuring all control systems adhere to relevant industry standards and regional regulations, as well as client-specific requirements for data security and environmental impact.
• Providing scheduling input and guidance regarding proposed design solutions, change orders, optioneering and scheduling proposals that may affect or improve committed project milestones.
• Participating in the change management process and change justification.
• Coordinating integration scopes accordingly in order to aid and not impede the Commissioning process.
• Reporting the progress.
• Performing and recording regular site installation quality reviews and coordinating handover.
• Managing and owning the turnover to operations process per area or facility, depending on the project delivery schedule/model.
• Coordinating the facility's partial or complete lockdown process.
• Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or may arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

• Proven experience in implementing and managing BMS and EPMS for data centres or other mission-critical facilities.
• Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power systems, cooling, and IT load management, with knowledge of redundancy levels.
• Knowledge of industry standards.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
• Excellent problem-solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills.
• Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Eligible to work in the EU.
• Experience working in the Nordics is desirable.
• Professional level of English.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
