Job description

Purpose

The EU Process & Project Engineer will lead process engineering design and capital project implementation across Bakelite’s European sites. You will play a key role in driving sustainable, safe, and cost‑efficient solutions while promoting collaboration and technical excellence across borders.

Responsibilities
  • Lead process engineering design across conceptual, basic, and detailed phases, including calculations, datasheets, P&IDs, and E3D models.
  • Manage internal and external engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, piping, EC&I) through all project stages to “ready for construction.”
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and schedules for new plants or major modifications.
  • Ensure safety in design through Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, and compliance with company and national standards.
  • Oversee assigned projects from concept to completion, meeting scope, budget, schedule, and HSE requirements.
  • Obtain project sanction and prepare progress and financial reports for stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate capital projects in collaboration with site teams and European engineering resources.
Background & Requirements
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Several years of process engineering and project management experience within the chemical or process industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working in a matrix organization and with remote teams.
  • Fluent in Finnish and proficient in English (spoken and written).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, E3D, Aveva, MS Teams, and MS Project is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Europe (initially 25%, increasing to up to 50% after two years).
