Job summary

Wolt in Helsinki is seeking backend engineers to join Growth Platform, the AI-native marketing platform unifying data across DoorDash, Wolt and Deliveroo.

You'll own features end-to-end, work with cross-functional teams across backend, data and product, and ship in an environment that values experimentation with AI agents.

Growth Platform is how DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo market as one. We're building a single AI-native marketing platform across all three brands, unifying customer data, intelligence, and execution so every partner team can launch faster, personalize better, learn continuously, and scale wins across brands. We're hiring backend engineers who want to be at the front line of what engineering looks like in the age of AI.

• An AI-first team by design. We don't use AI as a productivity add-on - we treat agentic coding as a core engineering discipline. We expect our engineers to build with AI agents, to challenge what's possible when the human-in-the-loop is a multiplier rather than a bottleneck, and to push the boundaries of what a focused team can ship.
• Real ownership, real impact. Growth Platform powers marketing across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo, reaching millions of users daily. You'll own features end-to-end, from the idea through production, and see your work matter at scale across three brands.
• Cross-org engineering at the frontier. We work across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo to unify customer data, intelligence, and execution into one platform. This is engineering at the intersection of product ambition, marketing at scale, and international complexity.
• Leverage those compounds. Everything we ship is leverage: unify the data, sharpen the intelligence, and streamline execution so every partner marketing team can launch faster, personalize better, and learn continuously. When we get it right, wins scale across all three brands instead of being rebuilt one at a time.

AI-First Engineering - What This Means Here

We're building teams at the forefront of agentic coding. This isn't about using Copilot to autocomplete boilerplate. We mean engineers who:

• Design workflows where AI agents handle entire task loops, from spec to PR.
• Think in terms of orchestration: what does a human review, what does the agent own?
• Build internal tooling and abstractions that make AI-assisted development faster and more reliable for the whole team.
• Stay curious and ahead of the curve - trying new models, agents, and tools as they emerge, and forming strong opinions about what's genuinely useful vs. hype.

If you find yourself naturally asking "can an agent do this?" before reaching for the keyboard, you'll fit right in.

What We're Looking For Across all roles

• Strong engineering fundamentals - you've built and shipped software that runs at scale, and you understand what that entails: testing, observability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI-first development. You use AI tools daily and have formed real opinions about how to get the most out of them.
• Ownership mentality: you drive projects forward, communicate clearly across teams and time zones, and don't wait to be told what to do.
• Collaborative instincts - Growth Platform sits at the intersection of backend, data, ML, and product. Cross-functional work is the norm, not the exception.
• You've built and shipped real software - products, platforms, APIs, apps - and you know what it takes to keep things running reliably in production. You have opinions about architecture but hold them lightly. You write tests. You read the alerts. You don't leave loose ends.
• What sets you apart right now is that you're genuinely excited about where engineering is going. You've been experimenting with AI agents and agentic coding workflows - not because someone told you to, but because you couldn't help yourself. You think about how to redesign your development loop from first principles, not how to bolt AI onto the way you already work.
• You communicate well, collaborate easily across disciplines, and care about the product as much as the code. You're the kind of engineer who asks "what's the best way to..." and then actually follows through.

This role is based in our tech hub in Helsinki.
