Coragrid is hiring a Backend Engineer - API to build the data infrastructure, backend services, and terminal-native systems behind private-company intelligence. We are looking for a backend/systems engineer who is strong in Rust, comfortable on Linux, and opinionated about fast, zero-bloat software.
Coragrid builds data infrastructure for private markets. Our goal is to bring public-market level data fidelity to private companies: official financials, registry filings, web evidence, source-linked outputs, and retrieval-ready datasets.
We care about speed, truthfulness, and low-friction tools. The product is built for investment teams, but the engineering culture is terminal-first: clean CLIs, direct workflows, Linux-native development, and no unnecessary layers.
As an ideal candidate, you have a strong understanding of how highly scalable and reliable production infrastructure is built. Most of our backend infrastructure is written in Rust, so familiarity with a compiled language such as Rust, C++, or Go is highly beneficial.
- Rust data systems: Develop registry connectors, ingestion paths, normalization logic, and backend services that turn messy public sources into trusted company records.
- CLI-first workflows: Design and ship command-line tools that make data operations, debugging, imports, exports, and internal automation faster.
- Source-linked retrieval: Work on pipelines that preserve evidence, URLs, documents, timestamps, and raw source context next to structured outputs.
- Production engineering: Improve reliability across PostgreSQL, Qdrant, AWS, Kubernetes, and the services that keep Coragrid running.
- Expert knowledge of Rust or C++: You are comfortable writing typed, reliable backend code and designing clear data boundaries.
- Distributed systems: Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable and horizontally scalable distributed systems.
- Observability and reliability: Knowledge of service observability, incident response, and reliability best practices.
- Database experience: Experience with PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases such as MySQL and MariaDB.
- Senior engineering judgment: You can own a backend/system change from problem shape to production behavior, and you know when to keep scope small.
- Backend range: You can move between services, APIs, database queries, ingestion jobs, infra, and integration work without drama.
- Linux and CLI fluency: You prefer direct tools, shell workflows, logs, tests, and reproducible commands over heavy dashboards and bloat.
- Data quality mindset: You care about traceability, source evidence, idempotent writes, and clear failure modes.
- Systems taste: You can build software that is fast, simple, observable, and precise for both humans and machines.
- Infra: Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and GitHub Actions.
- Interfaces: API, CLI, TUI, exports, retrieval, pipelines, internal tools.
- Terminal-first: We optimize for fast local feedback, clear commands, readable logs, and systems that can be operated without ceremony.
