Job summary

The University of Lapland invites applications for a Junior Researcher position within the Arctic Transitions, Energy and Climate Governance Horizons in the Far North project. The role is based in Rovaniemi, Finland, with potential remote work and begins August 2027.

The successful candidate will conduct independent research, contribute to teaching to a limited extent, and advance a PhD through supervision by the PI and collaboration with an international research team.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in law, policy, geography, economics, environmental studies, sociology, anthropology, science and technology studies, or related field.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English at an academic level.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Finnish will be considered a merit.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research under the supervision of the PI.
• Complete the requirements for the successful completion of their PhD in the Faculty of Law.
• Present research results at national and international conferences.
• Contribute to the planning of an international conference to be hosted in Rovaniemi.
• Contribute to AT project planning and project administration.
• Participate in other duties related to the role assigned by the employer. Teaching may occur to a small extent.
