Keysight in Málaga is seeking a Wireless Protocol Software Engineer with strong 3GPP protocol expertise, focused on Layer 3 (RRC) to advance 5G and pre-6G developments. You will translate evolving specifications into scalable software components and own L3 stacks within a multi-site, international environment.

The role requires C/C++ proficiency, multi-threading and real-time programming, plus collaboration with systems, RF, product and customers to reproduce field issues and validate fixes.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in 3GPP LTE/NR and L3 protocols (RRC).
• Experience with C/C++ and real-time / multi-threaded software.
• Background in multi-site / international environments and English communication.

Keysight is looking for a Wireless Protocol Software Engineer with strong 3GPP protocol expertise, focused on Layer 3 (L3), to support advanced 5G and pre‑6G wireless system development.

You will work close to standards and real implementations, translating evolving protocol specifications into scalable and robust software components that directly impact system behavior and performance.

This role provides deep technical ownership of L3 protocol stacks within a multi‑site international environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and optimize the L3 protocol stack (RRC)
• Support UE emulation
• Contribute to 5G standards, following 3GPP evolution
• Translate evolving requirements (3GPP releases, operator acceptance needs, O‑RAN priorities) into clear software designs, test workflows, and reusable components
• Collaborate with cross‑functional experts (systems, RF, protocol, product, customers/partners) to reproduce field issues, debug complex behaviors, and validate fixes with strong root‑cause discipline
