Overview

The National Coordinator will coordinate IUCN’s work in Tunisia with civil society organisations and IUCN Members, serve as the national coordinator of the Mubadarat Programme and its related projects (at the moment, PPI OSCAN and TransCap), and contribute to their regional implementation. The position ensures coherence between IUCN initiatives in Tunisia, national priorities, and the wider IUCN Programme, while providing essential support for civil society strengthening, partnership development, and project implementation at national and, when relevant, regional levels.

Responsibilities
Granting cycle and CSO support
  • Support the launch and management of calls for proposals, including outreach, evaluation processes, and the selection of CSO grantees.
  • Accompany CSOs throughout the full project cycle (inception, implementation, monitoring, and closure).
  • Support organisational development assessments and co-design organisational development action plans with CSOs.
  • Provide guidance on MEL systems, data collection, and reporting requirements.
Training and capacity development
  • Organise thematic and general training sessions for CSOs (technical, organisational, governance, MEL, communication, etc.).
  • Coordinate national networking events, exchanges, and peer‑learning opportunities.
Monitoring, reporting and compliance
  • Monitor project progress, conduct field visits, and ensure high‑quality technical and financial follow‑up.
  • Support the preparation of donor reports, briefs, communication materials, and success stories.
  • Facilitate connections between CSOs, national institutions, experts, and relevant initiatives.
Community animation and communication
  • Support awareness‑raising and visibility activities for the Mubadarat community in Tunisia.
  • Provide content for social media, website updates, newsletters and other communication products in coordination with IUCN Med communications team.
Regional coordination and technical inputs
  • Collaborate with the regional Mubadarat team in the regional office and support regional programme implementation.
  • Participate in regional planning, monitoring, and knowledge‑sharing activities.
  • Support the organisation of regional events, trainings, and peer‑learning exchanges.
Programme development
  • Contribute to regional strategies, new project concepts, and fundraising efforts.
  • Share lessons learned, case studies, and good practices from Tunisia to inform regional analysis and programme adaptation.
Cross‑country collaboration
  • Support harmonisation of tools, methodologies, and monitoring frameworks across participating countries.
  • Represent the Tunisia project Office in regional coordination meetings and working groups.
  • Coordination of Tunisia Project Office and IUCN Med activities in Tunisia.
Strategic coordination and representation
  • Coordinate IUCN’s activities in Tunisia to ensure alignment with national priorities, IUCN’s Programme, and relevant regional objectives.
  • Serve as the main focal point for national authorities, agencies, and institutions in Tunisia.
  • Maintain strong coordination with the IUCN National Committee in Tunisia, including the State Member, and support its activities, visibility, and engagement.
Partnerships and networking
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with governmental bodies, international organisations, NGOs, academic institutions, and technical partners.
  • Facilitate collaborations and promote the use of IUCN standards, tools, and knowledge products at national level.
Project office implementation
  • Support the planning and implementation of the Tunisia Project Office’s annual workplan.
  • Contribute to national project development, strategic initiatives, and the identification of new partnership opportunities.
  • Support communications, visibility, and stakeholder engagement efforts in Tunisia.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in natural or social sciences, environment, development studies, international cooperation, public administration, or other relevant disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in programme or project coordination in Tunisia.
  • Demonstrated experience with government institutions, NGOs, and/or international organisations.
  • Previous experience collaborating with civil society organisations (CSOs) is strongly recommended.
  • Experience in capacity building, organisational development, and/or supporting CSOs in institutional strengthening.
  • Solid understanding of donor‑funded project management, including planning, reporting, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Knowledge of North Africa and Mediterranean regional contexts is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and networking abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with IUCN tools, standards, and nature conservation frameworks is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated commitment to civil society engagement and locally‑led conservation approaches.
  • Work Visa for Tunisia is required.
  • Fluency in Arabic and French, both written and spoken.
  • Good working knowledge of English is required.
  • Knowledge of Spanish or other Mediterranean languages is an asset.
  • Ability to travel regularly within Tunisia and occasionally to Spain or other North African countries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • High level of integrity and strong commitment to IUCN values.
