The role requires experience with Air Force TO System, library services, and the ability to travel internationally. The position is based on Diego Garcia in BIOT and involves working in a secure, mission-focused environment.

Formación

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the Air Force Technical Orders (TO) System.
• General (11 hours) and Advanced (12 hours) instruction on the Air Force TO System.
• 1–3 years in library services, technical documentation, records management, or admin support.

Responsabilidades

• Manage, organize, and maintain technical manuals, reference materials, digital resources, and docs (classified/unclassified).
• Provide research assistance to maintenance, engineering, and operations personnel.
• Maintain cataloging, indexing, and inventory to Air Force and Amentum standards.
• Ensure documents are current, stored properly, and comply with revision control and distribution requirements.
• Assist with digitization, scanning, and electronic filing of materials.
• Track, issue, and control technical publications and controlled documents.
• Coordinate with USAF to obtain updated manuals, TOs, bulletins, and directives.
• Maintain a secure, organized technical library environment.
• Other duties consistent with the position.

Amentum is seeking a Technical Reference Librarian (USAF) to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Technical Reference Librarian is considered the Air Force Technical Order Distribution Office (TODO) and shall be responsible for updating, maintaining and processing requirements for the library in Transportation, Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), Munitions, Petroleum Oils and Lubricants (POL), Communications and Civil Engineer.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage, organize, and maintain technical manuals, reference materials, digital resources, and classified/unclassified documentation in support of USAF operations.
• Provide research assistance and reference support to maintenance, engineering, and operational personnel.
• Maintain accurate cataloging, indexing, and inventory systems in accordance with Air Force and Amentum standards.
• Ensure all technical documents are current, properly stored, and compliant with revision control and distribution requirements.
• Assist with digitization, scanning, and electronic filing of technical materials.
• Track, issue, and control technical publications and controlled documents.
• Coordinate with USAF departments to obtain updated manuals, technical orders (TOs), bulletins, and directives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure technical library environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in the Air Force Technical Orders (T.O.) System.
• Familiar with and have at least the General (11 hours) and Advanced (12 hours) instruction on the Air Force Technical Order System.
• 1-3 years of experience in library services, technical documentation, records management, or administrative support.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in library science, information management, or records administration preferred.
• Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience supporting USAF or DoD technical documentation systems.
• Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
• Familiarity with Technical Orders (TOs), controlled documents, or military publication systems.
• Strong organizational, cataloging, document-control, time management and customer service skills.
• Valid country driver’s license.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
