Vorwerk Austria GmbH & Co KG is seeking an IT Tech Lead Integration to design, build and operate secure APIs and data pipelines across our integration platform in Madrid. You will lead API-first integrations (SAP-driven and non-SAP), enforce API security, and mentor engineers while influencing platform roadmaps.

Job Purpose

The IT Tech Lead Integration will design, build and operate secure, scalable APIs, integration flows, event streams and data pipelines across our integration platform, ensuring alignment with the platform’s information layer (canonical data model) and enterprise API governance exposed through the Developer Portal.

This role leads technical delivery for API-first integrations (SAP-driven and non‑SAP), enforces API security and lifecycle practices, mentors engineers, and contributes to platform roadmaps and runbook/gov processes.

Technical Skills and Experience

• Core platform & Cloud: 6+ years enterprise integration or API development experience, with 4+ years hands‑on in Azure services (APIM, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Key Vault).
• API‑Management & Security (must): Deep, demonstrable experience implementing, operating and securing Azure API Management (APIM) deployments – policies, developer portal, policy fragments, versioning, and CI/CD automation.
• Strong knowledge of API security standards: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mutual TLS, API key management and claims‑based authorization; experience integrating with identity providers (Azure AD/Entra ID, ADFS, external IdPs).
• Experience with API threat protection patterns (rate‑limiting, quotas, caching, request validation, input sanitization, WAF considerations).
• SAP & SAP BTP (must): Proven experience building SAP‑driven APIs using SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry / Kyma / API Management on BTP) and integrating with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Integration Suite is required.
• Integration & Messaging: Experience with message‑based integrations – Azure Service Bus and Event Grid (required); Solace PubSub+ experience is desirable.
• Development & Automation: Strong experience in one or more backend languages (.NET/C#, Java, Node.js) and REST/SOAP API development.
• CI/CD and Infrastructure‑as‑Code experience using Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions and Bicep/ARM/Terraform for APIM and integration deployments.
• Observability & Operations: Practical use of Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics and API analytics for troubleshooting and SLO/SLA reporting.
• Security‑first mindset: consistently thinks in terms of threat modeling and secure by design across the API lifecycle.
• Systemic thinking: understands information layer, canonical models, and the downstream impacts of design choices on consumers and data quality.
• Collaboration & stakeholder management: able to align product owners, SAP teams, security and platform operations; communicates technical trade‑offs clearly.
• Mentorship & leadership: experience mentoring mid/senior engineers, providing constructive design/code reviews, and raising team maturity.
• Problem solving under pressure: calm and structured during incidents, leads RCA and remediation plans.
• Continuous improvement orientation: advocates automation, observability, and process improvements for reliability and security.

Main Activities

• Design, develop and publish REST/SOAP APIs, GraphQL or lightweight façade APIs as required, using Azure API Management (APIM) and SAP BTP for SAP‑driven APIs.
• Build integration logic in Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or durable workflows and implement message‑based flows where required.
• Configure and maintain APIM instances, developer portal, policy fragments and versioning; implement security policies (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT validation, mutual TLS, API keys, IP restrictions, CORS).
• Integrate APIM with Entra ID (including B2B/B2C where required), Key Vault for secrets management, and CI/CD pipelines for policy and API definition deployments.
• Implement data pipelines and ETL/ELT tasks using integrate.io (and equivalent tools) and integrate data flows with the canonical data model in the information layer.
• Design event‑driven solutions using Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, and optionally Solace PubSub+ for high throughput / low‑latency use cases.
• Enforce API governance: Open API / Swagger‑first design, contract versioning, developer portal documentation, SLAs, and onboarding processes.
• Implement logging, metrics and tracing using Azure Monitor/Application Insights and define alerting / runbook procedures.
• Work with architects to evolve the canonical data model and mapping rules; collaborate with security, SRE, DevOps, product owners and SAP teams.
• Participate in incident response, post‑incident reviews and continuous improvement for platform reliability and security.
• Coach and review code/designs of peers, author API design guidelines, template policies/fragments, and reusable connectors/adapters.
