Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Architect to design robust architectures spanning hardware and software, including V&V and test rigs. You will drive platform reuse, make data-driven decisions, and guide cross-functional teams to mitigate technical risks. Strong OOAD and C/C++17 skills are essential.

Formación

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM from an accredited college or university.
• Proven experience in embedded systems architecture and virtualized IED architectures.
• Strong OOAD skills with proficiency in C/C++17.
• Experience with Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and virtualization.
• Experience with Embedded Linux and RTOS.
• Experience with microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with transmission and distribution power-system domains and protection relays.
• Experience with modular, mid-size embedded systems using Xilinx Ultrascale+ designs.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Desirable: SAFe, CI/CD pipelines, FPGA, IEC 61850/IEEE 1588/SCADA, system test methodologies, leadership.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex challenging requirements to architect effective design solutions making up the overall system architecture including hardware, embedded software, software tools, V&V and test rigs.
• Provide forward‑looking strategies for platforms and technology development, technical risks elimination and insertion, to make the platform reliable and the product competitive.
• Drive platform reuse strategies.
• Make data‑driven decisions using defined trade‑off criteria.
• Facilitate, drive discussions and steer cross‑functional councils to solve issues, drive decisions, gain consensus, and align on technical risk mitigation strategies.
• Communicate complex messages and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view.
• Influence peers to act and negotiate with external partners and vendors.
• Utilize in‑depth understanding of key technology challenges to accomplish own work and provide direction to cross‑functional teams.
• Define architecture enablers and collaborate with ART Product Owners and Product Managers on backlog definition and prioritization.
• Provide timely communications on significant issues, risks and/or developments.
• Maintain a focus on safety, reliability, performance, and security for embedded systems.
• Capture and elicit detailed requirements from stakeholders to ensure comprehensive understanding and documentation.
• Handle change management and impact analysis. Assess the effects of modifications on system architecture. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited college or university.
• Proven experience in embedded systems architecture and virtualized IED architectures.
• Strong object‑oriented analysis and design (OOAD) skills with proficiency in C/C++17.
• Experience with Microservices, Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), Virtualization (Hypervisor types, VM management, network configuration).
• Experience with Embedded Linux and RTOS.
• Experience with micro services software architectures.
• Understanding of the Transmission & Distribution power‑system domain and protection relays.
• Extensive experience of modular, medium‑scale embedded systems based around Xilinx Ultrascale+ designs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience working on teams that use the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) development methodology (Desired).
• Experience implementing and using CI/CD pipelines (Desired).
• Experience with Field‑Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) (Desired).
• Knowledge on IEC 61850, IEEE 1588 and/or SCADA, networking protocols (IEC 62439-3) (Desired).
• Understand and apply system test and integration methodologies (Desired).
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills (Desired).
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems (Desired).
