Job summary

Santander is seeking a Structured Notes Issuance & Platform Oversight Associate / Vice President based in Madrid, Spain. The role supports daily issuance and lifecycle processes for a global structured-notes platform, coordinating with front-to-back teams to ensure robust documentation, regulatory compliance and reporting.

In this role you will oversee governance, monitor regulatory updates, and drive remediation of control weaknesses while expanding the platform across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in capital markets, structured products, or securities issuance.
  • Ability to interpret financial contracts and programming documents.
  • Knowledge of structured-note issuance and lifecycle processes is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple jurisdictions across control functions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate end-to-end issuance and lifecycle management of structured notes and related products.
  • Oversee daily issuance flow, documentation, incidents and escalation with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain governance and control frameworks for issuance activity and audits.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and jurisdiction-specific requirements.
  • Review financial and legal documentation including programme and transaction documents.
  • Drive KPIs, root-cause analysis and remediation in operations.
  • Onboard distributors and govern private/public offering processes with consistent standards.
  • Escalate material risks and increase capacity through standardized processes.

Santander CIB is looking for a Structured Notes Issuance & Platform Oversight Associate / Vice President based in Madrid, Spain.

Join X-Asset Investment Solutions within Santander Corporate & Investment Banking in Madrid and help operate a global structured-notes issuance platform. Working with the platform oversight and execution team, you will support daily issuance and lifecycle processes while ensuring that documentation, regulatory obligations, controls and reporting remain robust as the business grows across jurisdictions.

  • Coordinate the end-to-end issuance and lifecycle management of structured notes and structured flow transactions across internal issuance and repack arrangements and open multidealer platforms such as SPIRE.
  • Oversee daily issuance flow, operational coordination, documentation completeness, incidents, exceptions and timely escalation, working closely with Structuring, Sales, Trading, Legal, Compliance, Tax, Treasury, Operations and Technology.
  • Maintain effective governance and control frameworks for the issuance activity, supporting audits, assurance reviews, management information and regulatory or internal reporting.

  • Review and interpret financial and legal documentation, including issuance programme documents, transaction documents, distribution agreements and related contractual materials.
  • Maintain oversight of operational risks, control weaknesses, incidents and corrective actions; define and monitor relevant KPIs; and drive root-cause analysis and timely remediation.
  • Support distributor onboarding and governance, control public‑offer and private‑placement processes, maintaining consistent execution standards across products and jurisdictions.
  • Exercise sound judgement and appropriate autonomy when resolving execution issues, escalating material risks and exceptions, and increasing capacity through standardised processes and effective coordination with Operations and support functions. issuance, public offers, listings, distribution and lifecycle obligations, and coordinate their practical implementation with business and control functions.

Professional Experience
  • Relevant experience in capital markets, structured products, securities issuance, legal, product governance, business management, operations or a comparable control function (Required)
  • Experience interpreting financial contracts, securities documentation or issuance programme documentation (Required)
  • Experience in structured-note issuance, issuance programmes, repacks, public offers, listings, product governance or securities lifecycle processes (Preferred)
  • Experience partnering with business teams and first- and second-line control functions across multiple jurisdictions (Preferred)
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline (Required)
  • Legal qualification, postgraduate legal studies, master's degree or other relevant capital‑markets, project or technology qualification (Preferred)
Languages
  • High professional proficiency in English, written and spoken (Required)
  • Professional proficiency in German, Italian or French (Preferred)
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish (Preferred)
